We are going out with a musical crescendo! Join us on our last City Wine Sellar Friday Night Music Series on Friday, February 3rd, starting at 5 pm. We have invited any and all of our previous Friday night performers to come for an evening jam session and open mic. We plan to start at 5 pm and keep going as long as everyone is having a great time. It'll be standing room only, so be prepared for that. We will try to seat as many people as possible and will try to serve you as efficiently as possible. Patience and fun will be the words of the evening. Unfortunately, we won't be able to do reservations on that evening. As always, there will be no cover charge. Some of the performers we anticipate: Chuck Hodges, James Ethan Clark, Charlie Hoidal, Chris Palestrant, Nick Simmons, Adam Nixon, Tim Orton, members of Country Classics Band, members of Just 3, EZ Malone, Karaoke Kelly, Toby Tate, Tom Vinick and Wes Smith of Pairadocs, and young man Landry Slaughter (son of Donna Donaldson). Chuck Hodges is not only an amazing entertainer, he's one of those supremely humble ones who, when you tell him how great he is, you'll see him tilt his head to the side in an aw-shucks-style, shyly say, "thanks," and immediately start telling you about how great the other guys in the band are. Always one to share the spotlight, he's a mentor, an encourager, and a promoter of up and coming new talent, which is why his band changes from performance to performance. There is always someone new and exciting who will join in for a song or two, or five.
I describe Chuck and his band as a little bit country, and a little bit rock and roll, with a smidgen of modern pop thrown in every now and again.
More specifically, "progressive modern rock and alternative country." The result is a "bluesy-folksy, roots-rockish, guitar-centric sound." Everyone who hears Chuck Hodges and His Makeshift Band falls in love with their laid back style. They will calm you and energize you at the same time. Their music has a way of making you feel like all is right with the world.

For those of you who aren't from the South, a pig-pickin' cake is a cake of Southern tradition served at summer pig-pickings.  It is a mixture of many great ingredients that can stand on their own in taste, but combined make for an over-the-top tasting experience.
