April 1, 2011 -- Deacon Blues

Uphill The Band spinoff duo is on the docket this Friday night at City Wine. Deacon Blues (aka Adam Nixon) and Tim Orton will let the blues flow through their musical veins with their mellow vocals and will demonstrate instrumental magic. With a repertoire of acoustic and electric blues, as well as some dittys from The Grateful Dead, Johnny Cash, and even Jim Croce, they will have you tapping your toes and very likely singing along. March 25, 2011 -- Pairadocs

Dr. Tom Vinick has brought on a partner in his practice of music making! Dr. Wes Smith will be joining Tom on stage this Friday night at The City Wine Sellar. Together, they are known as Pairadocs (Get it? Pair of Docs?) and will diagnose and cure your musical malodies with melodies and pop tunes from the 40s through today.

March 18, 2011 -- Just 3

Just 3 will be playing at City Wine Sellar from 7-10 pm. With Barret Kidd on Keyboards, Tom Hodges on Lead Guitar and Dave Knight on drums, Just 3 all contribute to lead vocals and 3 part harmonies to deliver a rich sound and a high energy performance. March 17, 2011 -- St. Patrick's Day Beer Tasting

You seriously can't miss this lucky tasting! Paul Casesse of Elizabeth City Brewing LLC will be brewing five batches of home brews for us to taste. I can tell you from experience that his beer will be super! In addition to the home brews, City Beverage will sample two of their micro brews, one of which will be the Tommyknocker Maple Brown Ale (a new favorite of mine). What could be more fun that a beer tasting on St. Patrick's Day? So, put on those green underwear and sham-rock your hineys on down to The City Wine Sellar on Thursday, March 17th. 6:30-8:30 pm. March 11, 2011 -- Country Classics Band

A band formed out of an appreciation for "Classic Country" music that was mostly recorded in the late 50's and 60's, The Country Classics band plays music from artists such as Hank Williams Sr., Merl Haggard, Elvis Presley and others from this era. Hee Haw! John Anderson (guitar), Mercer Long (guitar), Jerry Long (drums), Steve Ackley (Mandolin and vocals, Dickey Ferrell (pedal Steel guitar), Wayne Sanders (fiddle, banjo), Mike Albertson (Bass, guitar).

March 4, 2011 -- Karaoke with Kathi

It's Karaoke Friday at City Wine. Kathi the Karaoke Kween has over 500 new songs in her selection. So, come on out, be a star for the night, and sing till your heart's content. Even if you don't like to participate, it's always fun to watch and cheer on others. Kathi Hartzell is a talented singer who will fill the gaps with her own snazzy serenading. March 4 -- John Peel Pottery on First Friday Art Walk

From First Wednesday to First Friday...many dowtown businesses and organizations will be participating in this month's First Friday Art Walk scheduled for March 4, 5:30 till 8:00 pm. Walk from place to place for each venues' gallery, show or other art activities. City Wine will be displaying and selling the ceramic pieces of artist John Peel -- wine goblets, beer mugs, wine/cheese trays and wine pitchers. March 2, 2011 --Wednesday Wine Tasting

Join us for the First Wednesday Wine Tasting held each (first Wednesday) of the month. Six wines are sampled -- three whites and three reds -- along with hearty appetizers. The cost is $15 per person, which includes the wine, food, printed tasting notes, and special disounts on wines. Always a good time. This month we will be tasting wines from Washington State -- Two Ponds Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot and Cabernet, and Snoqualmie Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah.
