February 4, 2011 -- Chuck Hodges & Friends

Chuck Hodges is not only an amazing entertainer, he's one of those supremely humble ones who, when you tell him how great he is, you'll see him tilt his head to the side in an aw-shucks-style, shyly say, "thanks," and immediately start telling you about how great the other guys in the band are. Always one to share the spotlight, he's a mentor, an encourager, and a promoter of up and coming new talent, which is why his band changes from performance to performance. There is always someone new and exciting who will join in for a song or two, or five.
I describe Chuck and his band as a little bit country, and a little bit rock and roll, with a smidgen of modern pop thrown in every now and again.
More specifically, "progressive modern rock and alternative country." The result is a "bluesy-folksy, roots-rockish, guitar-centric sound." Everyone who hears Chuck Hodges and His Makeshift Band falls in love with their laid back style. They will calm you and energize you at the same time. Their music has a way of making you feel like all is right with the world.
Entertainment 7-10 pm. Deli fare served until 9:00. 252-335-1163
